What every Mauritian is asking these days :
I recall the Dec 2020 letter written by T. Prayag in l’Express to the then Commissioner of Police(CP) “ The door of History is wide open for you today, Sir. Walk through it and write yourself into our history books. Remember: no one can touch you. Not this government, not the next one. No one else can save this country from the rogue, Mafia state we are turning into. Our fate lies in your hands. Be on the right side of History! ….”
He chose to be on the wrong side of History…
One by one, our institutions are being hollowed, infected with toxic polarisation, with our spin dictator’s chums in charge of our supposedly independent institutions…
How could we expect the constitutional post of CP to be different ?
We look forward for the day when our CP , as one blogger had put it, will reply so : 'PM, I understand you are doing your job and I respect you for that. But please, let me do mine and that, according to the laws of the country.'
I hope we’ll see this day when we’ll be proud of our CP , proud of our country !
