Two interesting articles , one in today’s Week-End titled “𝓓𝓲𝓼𝓪𝓷 𝓒𝓸𝓵𝓸𝓷-𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓹𝓮𝓻𝓼𝓲𝓼𝓽𝓮𝓷𝓬𝓮 𝓸𝓯 𝓬𝓸𝓵𝓸𝓷𝓲𝓪𝓵 𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓴𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓲𝓷 𝓜𝓪𝓾𝓻𝓲𝓽𝓲𝓪𝓷 𝓟𝓸𝓵𝓲𝓽𝓲𝓬𝓼” 𝓫𝔂 𝓓𝓻 𝓟𝓪𝓿𝓲 𝓡𝓪𝓶𝓱𝓸𝓽𝓪 and the other , the editorial piece by Nad Sivaramen in today’s L’express “𝑹éé𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒓𝒆 𝒍𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏” that give us some insights on the extent to which we are prepared to go to eradicate coloniality in our present attempt at a “radical” constitutional overhaul.

Representatives from Eco-Sud, the Aret Kokin Nu Laplaz (AKNL) platform and the MRU2025 were protesting at Balaclava to express their concern that a section of public beach had apparently been removed from the public domain. This section amounting to nearly 40% of the public beach and declassified in 2008, has been incorporated into the lease of a local hotel.

They finally did it ! We saw it coming !

They got rid of him, the firm and uncompromising CEO of the FSC .

He was brought in to clear the cobwebs, the muck in an institution where patronage and lack of governance had corrupted an ecosystem in which reform had become hard and disruption even more difficult. The institution was in dire need of the moral and intellectual stimulation and the ethical coordinates that he brought in .

In a country that does not innovate and in a country where you barely have any Major International banks that have come. I mean, we've seen HSBC. We've seen what has happened to deutsche bank. We really haven't gotten anybody since standard chartered and standard bank. And of course that Nigerian entity, that's not the same level. And they can't really do much value. Add in Mauritius. It seems in any way they're having issues with their own regulator on the expansion that they have done. So basically, mauritius lacks this ecosystem because of all the stupid scandals that the country has had, which has heard its reputation.And what you will see is that over time, you know, investors are going to leverage other jurisdictions, and as i've always said, when you have a negative outlook, people already adapt, you don't have to wait to become b a one so whatever bad thing people think is gonna happen to your credit rating.Downgrade, if it happens one day, it's already sort of happened.And that's what people very often don't get.Because markets are forward looking, they're not backward.Looking boardrooms, don't wait for downgrades and react.They react before things happen, and mauritius has already been priced.As a b a one country

Our present economic model has reached its limit . Why ?

Because we have a risk-averse, conservative and rent-seeking private sector complacently enjoying the low hanging fruits in an unhealthy coalition with a subservient elite/establishment.

We seem to be losing track of the essential. We have seen it at MoFED,at SBM, Mts Telecom, at CEB , at MauBank, CWA and now at one of our prime institutions, the BOM…The culture of impunity goes on year year after year, government after government.
