I , Me, I, Me, the bloated ego of our Ashok Subron

A.Subron in the National Assembly today :
Regarding the Portable Retirement Gratuity Fund (PRGF) , "had it not been me ,…had it not been me and the trade unions, the PRGF would have been "un seau percรฉ"…I stood there for the employees I stood in front of the Treasury building in 2020" ….Me ,I , Me, I…
Yes, Sir. Hats off !! We are aware of the leftist, activist Subron, the vocal leader of ReA and the fiery anti-establishment trade unionist who for decades has fiercely been denouncing the anti-worker government policies and defending workers.
What a sharp constant to his present political posturing , transiting from one contradiction to another. The backing down on the controversial pension means test following public outcry is not being acknowledged as a case of “๐’›๐’๐’• ๐’‡๐’Š๐’๐’ ๐’‡๐’‚๐’รฉ“ but being peddled as as democratic consultations ,listening to the population's concerns, and making adjustments.
Acknowledge it Mr Subron ! “Zot finn fanรฉ” ; such reforms are not carried out through unilateral policy announcements. We have seen how quickly the population can make its voice heard when leadership tries to push through measures without prior consultations and agreements And now u are making things worse by hiding behind the forthcoming Finance Bill.
The radical, populace-first stance of our Subron has been replaced by ministerial compliance or chatwaism.
- First he shifted the blame for the controversial pension reform away from the Prime Minister claiming that a "clique of non-elected" advisers and experts misled the PM.
- And praising the PM’s U-turn, he commended Ramgoolam’s "wisdom" in listening to public outcry and quickly freezing the means testing and targeting aspects of the retirement reform.
- And finally trying to deflect criticism from the current government by declaring that the true "scam of the century" was executed in June 2020 by the previous government (Pravind Jugnauth and Renganaden Padayachy), who brutally dismantled the original National Pension Fund.
That’s not the response we expected from our Subron !
No, Mr Subron, in a true consultative democracy, the government’s policies must reflect the needs, feedback, and voice of LePep before implementation, not as a capitulation, not in response to an immediate and widespread public backlash . When leaders consult with citizens first, it ensures democratic legitimacy and prevents the disconnect that happens when policies are forced upon the population.
Our Subron is now being publicly vilified for using "double language"—enjoying ministerial privilege while trying to distance himself from unpopular cabinet decisions when public anger erupts.
Yes Mr Subron, as one of your earlier supporters, we understand the challenging reality of a prog
ressive activist attempting to effect structural change within a complex government coalition. However today’s “I Me Me” label suggests a perception that our A. Subron has prioritised political survival and personal status over the collective ideology he once championed on the streets.
For LePep it is ““๐‘จ ๐‘ณ๐’๐’”๐’• ๐‘ฝ๐’๐’Š๐’„๐’† ๐’‡๐’๐’“ ๐‘พ๐’๐’“๐’Œ๐’†๐’“๐’”"
