In the wake of Navin Ramgoolam's statements on Radio Plus, some of our so-called top political analysts were on the programme ‘Au Cœur de l'Info’ to offer a critical analysis.

There were a few good suggestions- in line with what we have been recommending in these very posts- the need for a full-time finance minister (and a new team at the Ministry of finance), less of nominations bidons meaning -the right skills for the right jobs, ....

All these under 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒔 𝑸𝒖𝒐… they are thus just bothered about some cosmetic touches here and there, adding some pillars to the present economic model - a model that is no longer delivering for most Mauritians whether in terms of growth, inclusiveness, equity, opportunities, HRD, social mobility, affordable housing, good quality education and jobs,.... u name it

Even our top political analysts cannot move off the beaten track, think creatively, unconventionally, and from a fresh perspective!

Irrespective of the State of the Economy and the Moody's scare, the basic issue is that the present economic model has reached its limit. Can we expect a new road map for the economy from Vision 2050 ?
