An Operation of the Anti Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) turned sour on Tuesday afternoon at Résidence Kennedy, Quatre-Bornes. Two suspects, suspected of engaging in drug trafficking, were arrested and handcuffed, but managed to escape thanks to the presence of a hostile crowd of over seventy-five people .
We knew that our politicians were largely venal but it was still a country in which morality and humanity mattered. But with this regime, our moral compass is being completely obliterated, carpet-bombed out of existence by the very custodians of law, morality and virtue who give daily sermons on patriotism , national pride and our fundamental values.....
This is what happens when a regime surrenders moral integrity in order to achieve power and success for a limited term; a regime that has added moral insult to economic injury and this has resulted in a groundswell of public anger and resentment against endemic cronyism , corruption and "nou bannism' - a boiling-over of anger and resentment which has as its original source the decades of racial and social injustice; and now we see the projection of that anger towards those cast as the agents of oppression and humiliation.
