Dear Mr Kwok
Thank you for having provided a meal to 6,500 children of the Republic.
I am sure they would appreciate such kind gesture. More so since most of them have never had the privilege of getting a taste of star hotel food.
However if there is one thing I would agree with Milton Friedman that would be on his statement, "there ain't such thing as a free lunch" . You see Mr Kwok, the industry players whose interest you serve are the most subsidised and assisted ones of our economy. These funds could have been used otherwise. For example to offer a proper meal to the thousands of needy out there. Yet every single government since our independence has been extremely generous towards the oligarchs owning the hotels.
What is slightly annoying in your letter, it's the fact that you seem to purport "what is free does not need to abide by any standards". Each one of these students is a potential employee and a definite steward of your image. That was an opportunity you just missed to seduce & inspire.
The tone of your letter reminds me of the days when the common locals were not welcomed in hotels. I believed that was far away. Thank you for dragging me down to reality.
