Can we win the war against drug trafficking ?

Nearly 300 kilos of drugs, estimated at Rs 3.7 billion, seized at of Pointe-aux-Canonniers. What is the real issue ?
There is no need to brag about this catch -thanks to the tip off from Reunion Island.
According to Sam Lauthan, travailleur social et assesseur de la commission d'enquête sur la drogue, présidée par l'ancien juge Paul Lam Shang Leen
«Les saisies ne représentent qu'une infime partie du volume réel du trafic de drogue»
Why is it that again and again it is the same story as commented by Paul Lam Shang Leen “The systematic arrest of small fries coupled with the relative success of the controlled delivery exercise to lay hands on the local consignees should have been a cause of concern that the strategy did not pay. So long as the real drug traffickers have not been arrested, there will be a continuous flow of mules with changing strategy to beat the vigilance of the law enforcement agencies. “
Why do we fail , again and again ?
Because it is the lack of political will of the political elite -that has built incestuous relationships with some of the financers of drug trafficking- and they are the ones who decide what are the priorities for the country ? Safe City , Metro Express, Core D’or Sports Complex….
If LEPEP had a say in these decisions, it would have been more likely that the following would have been the priorities in terms of allocation of resources : Housing, Drains , Drug control and rehabilitation, restructuring of ADSU,ICAC, GRA and MRA to get rid of the mafia that has infiltrated these institutions…..
Can we win the war against drugs ?
Successive Govts are guilty of not implementing what were the priorities of the day. They have spent billions on untimely and prestige projects and on populist measures when the urgency was to tackle the more pressing issues like more resources for battling the growing drug problem especially the proliferation of synthetic drugs (its easy availability is taking its toll on the youth).
Les trafiquants sont mieux équipés que l’ADSU.
How can we fight them-the upscaling of drug dealing and trafficking -if we are seriously under-equipped whether in terms of man power, expertise and skills, technology and equipment ……especially in monitoring our EEZ…
That's the failure of one regime after another . We are paying the price today.
