We think that Berenger’s MMM should stay low for quite some time because after such a setback we need some cool heads, the stalwarts, the hardcores, the party’s thinkers ( if there are still some left) to find the right formula and stratagem for a successful comeback, stronger, more determined and committed to “Vrai Sanzman”

The political landscape has had enough of turbulence amplified by the disillusionment with the government's performance. The public trust is being impacted by all kinds of allegations(gang of 5/25) and counter allegations ( bizain prev) and by accusations of ‘Judas’ and irresponsibility (kan poilon la so, nou pa kit lakaz)

Give it time to settle and with time LePep will make their mind who has really “kit lacaz”.

Meanwhile , let their lieutenants crisscross all the constituencies , all the nooks and corners of the country building up a new team, with mostly young Turks , supported by a solid group of mentors who will be picked from the present activists and party members- the more experienced old guards who, however, won’t be candidates for the next election.

At the very least it must be an MMM

- that is new in the sense of being 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍, 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒐-𝒓𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 “𝑽𝒓𝒂𝒊 𝑺𝒂𝒏𝒛𝒎𝒂𝒏'', 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂 𝒏𝒆𝒘 𝒅𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒑𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒎𝒐𝒅𝒆𝒍-𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒄 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒑𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍.

- that is wider based , more democratic , less bureaucratic, strengthened by ensuring that its leadership is truly accountable to its membership.

- 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝑩𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒔 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒂𝒔 𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒐𝒓 , 𝒂𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔.

- that will ensure that its elected leaders have a broader, more inclusive mandate.

- that will be carrying out political and constitutional reforms that aim at transcending ethnic politics through specifically designed electoral rules requiring parliamentary candidates to meet a minimum threshold of votes across a certain percentage of earmarked constituencies. This will prevent a candidate from winning solely through an ethnic base in his constituency and so on......

After one year or more of direct engagement with the grassroots in diverse constituencies and the 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒓𝒖𝒊𝒕𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒈 𝑻𝒖𝒓𝒌𝒔 , you will see the difference in the social and political brand of the new MMM and the increased public trust built around the shift from "party-controlled" strategies to "constituency-oriented" approaches .

A new MMM that will earn its credibility by its proposed programmes and policies and more importantly, it will give us a new hope -hope in its aim to change the Status Quo , hope that the Young Turks are firm about living up to their commitments, not the type to fool the electorate by mere alliances and promises, hope that their yearning for change could turn out to be so transformational, so challenging, so demanding, so reforming, that it would create a moment to come together and re-turbo our commitment for a reforming and advancing Mauritius. 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒆𝒅, 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒃𝒆 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚.

We will thus be looking out for a new MMM , with a comprehensive programme of reforms for “Vrai Sanzman” not what some of its outdated old guards are proposing , a “galimatia” with Bodha, Valayden , Bhadain and so on.

N.B: Why a new leftist party from within MMM !

My whole idea of ( a new leftist party ) a New MMM is where PRB plays a minimum role ;he will be one among the many mentors thus lessening his role in the New MMM. Why building a party that will answer to our aspirations of “Vrai Sanzman “ from the MMM ? ( that does not seem to be well received). Because it is one of the few ,if not the only mainstream party, ( excluding ReA which will be joining in ultimately ) which still has some links and the meaningful support of left leaning supporters and voters. We will be using Ton Paulo this time ,to mobilise his left-leaning supporters who often cultivate a specific type of attachment with the leader based on empathy, shared social identity, and a vision/hope of systemic change. We’ll capitalise on our voters’ tendency towards “personalisation of politics”, where the leader becomes the primary symbol of belonging. We’ll use this personalisation, encouraged by Ton Paulo himself, to build a new MMM without him playing a prominent role. I am thus assuming that it will be easier to build up a new leftist party within MMM than starting from scratch.
