You know what the business magnate Adani is for Modi , and till lately what the betting mogul was to Pinok ; now that the gambler-cum -financier seemed to have “twit” , he has been replaced by Gopee, the very one who has the right political connections that lead to lucrative contracts and vast wealth.
The Adani-Modi cronyism scenario is being repeated here. Adani and his group grew rich by the lucrative contacts awarded to his companies in port and airports ,real estate and energy resources, and by taking advantage of loans from state-owned banks. In return , they have contributed handsomely to Modi’s 2024 and earlier campaigns.
Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi was barred from parliament to protect Modi from questions about 'the Gautam Adani financial scandal' . When the government refused to set up a parliamentary commission of inquiry, the Supreme Court appointed an expert panel, three of whose six members had a conflict of interest. It was no surprise when the panel found 'no conclusive proof of price manipulations in Adani scrips'
India's anti-fraud agencies are now totally under the control of Modi’s govt and are carrying out targeted investigations of the Adani group's competitors and political opponents . You recall the Modi’s govt crackdown on his rivals ahead of the country’s April 19 national elections. Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, a top Indian opposition leader remained in custody for two more weeks, following his arrest by the federal financial crime-fighting agency. Kejriwal was accused of accepting $12 million in bribes from liquor contractors some 2 years ago. The AAP has denied the accusations.
Here we are witnessing more or less the same kind of scenario and plot that is unfolding….
The PNQ of the day by the leader of the opposition was rejected by the Speaker. The PNQ focused on the rentals ( FSC, EDB , SBM,....) , contracts and land allocated to Gopee's companies, as well as his fees as a member or chairman of certain bodies. À la Modi, Pinok is there to protect his crony and financier who has been benefiting from lucrative contracts tailored to his needs. (especially the scandalous and inexcusable Rs 4.8 m being paid as monthly rental by the FSC since January for offices that had not yet been occupied) .................................................................................
The PNQ: "With regard to Mr V. G. will the Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Home Affairs and External Communications, Minister for Rodrigues, Outer Islands and Territorial Integrity, obtain from all ministries, parastatal organisations and government-controlled companies from 2015 to date:
(i) All plots of lands sold/leased to him and/or his relate companies;
(ii) All rentals paid to him and/or his related companies;
(iii) AIl his nominations and corresponding fees; and
(iv) All contracts above MUR 80M awarded to him and/or his related companies."

One among our many hollowed out and failing institutions, the FCC, is now directly under Pinok’s thumb with the directive to systematically target his political opponents even if it has to unearth some forgotten doubtful cases that date back to the 2000s.
As advised by his mentor on his recent visit to India and taken up by El Figaro in his article “Le FCC pour porter un coup mortel à l’opposition?” , the FCC is considering the arrest and detention of the former Prime Minister during the forthcoming election campaign.
