After the arrest of the Gooljaury brothers, what’s making the headlines is the shocking revelation by the PM in his parliamentary reply that the MSM government has squandered a whopping 110 million dollars (with annual maintenance costs of 7.5 million dollars and evidence of over-billing ) on purchasing highly sophisticated equipments for state surveillance of the entire nation.
What is even more scandalous is that MSM has the nerve to come out with a communique calling for the establishment of a commission of inquiry to shed light on the allegations of mass phone-tapping and the ‘Missié Moustass’ leaks!
Now LePep is really pissed off and anger is running high . Moreover, these rogues, these scums of the previous regime have the cheek to come up with their own
interpretation of their catastrophic bilan …..
« Je pars avec le sentiment du devoir accompli » or “Les chiffres officiels de la Banque de Maurice indiquent que l’économie du pays est en bonne santé.”
As long as some of them , especially the big shots and chatwas, do not end up behind bars, we would not be able to cast them off the national stage. (also because of a media that pick and choose their "nou ban" - a version of their Mauritianism-the opposite of what they
preach to others. Quelle hypocrisie! Have a look at the editorial in today's l'express :
"Le rêve du mauricianisme s'effondre chaque fois qu'un politicien se présente d'abord
sous l'étiquette de sa communauté ou de son clan"; si ReA ti dir sa ,mo ti pou accepté
- The true hypocrites are the ones who cease to perceive their deception, the ones who lie with sincerity. AND OUR LOCAL MEDIA EXCEL IN THAT. )
At page 3 of today’s l’express, we are being informed that “La Liste s’allonge: Après I'arrestation de Rakesh Gooljaury, le CCID, désormais débarrassé des éléments proches de l'ancien régime, se prépare à d'autres arrestations de haut profil. Les noms chuchotés incluent Maneesh Gobin (Stag Party), Prakash Maunthrooa (CWA), Ken Arian (Airport Holdings), Kobita et Pravind Jugnauth (écoutes téléphoniques), entre autres.”
Let us hope that this information is accurate; it will help to heighten the hopes of LePep
that the culprits are being brought to justice - a LePep that still trust our rule of law even when politics is creeping in insidiously through the backdoor of courtrooms to dilute and circumvent judgements. (B.Maigrot for e.g)
And it will be a warning for the present regime if they ever think of re-using these equipments ! ( we are being told that the whole system has been disbanded. But we cannot afford to just trust them on such matters! )
