An internal audit report of the Central Water Authority (CWA), which has been in circulation since July and tabled in the National Assembly on Tuesday, has revealed irregularities in the pipe replacement programme for the year 2023-24. It revealed that Rs 700 million had disappeared from the CWA's coffers.
The Minister replied that an investigation would be conducted to determine who is responsible in due course-“En temps et lieu , the Board will decide who will investigate this report and what report and what action will be taken.”
Ki en temps et lieu ? What action ? What 'board' will decide ? Zot pé gaga ki , pa koné ki pou fer ? Ki zot pé fer, cinéma !
There, u have , “Mr Confidentiality, Rama Sithanen, who is doing all sorts of somersaults to ensure that the real thieves, the real fraudsters are not troubled at all.” (see also my post, MIC: it's only the tip of the iceberg!)
Statistics Mauritius will be restructured to restore the credibility of this institution . What about the sanctions against the Acting Director of Statistics ?
And at MoFED, the ex-advisers are being promoted to PMO and the ones who were trimming and cooking the figures are the very ones on whom we are relying for the new budget, debt and GDP figures. There are still corrections to be made on the new GDP and the budget deficit figures. The update was not complete. We cannot trust this macro-fiscal team and the Deputy FS . Nor will Moody’s !
What are they waiting for? There is an urgent need for a restructuring of MoFED and due sanctions against the officers who have committed a crime against the Nation.
Is it like that that we are going to bring better governance and greater trust in our institutions .
